The project In tua assenza (In your absence) is based on the idea of an echo of an absent original
text. The absence and the memory.
The Golberg Variations are used as a starting text (the Ur Text) with all its meanings in the history
and in our personal biographies.

The text is treated with a software that creates MIDI echoes cancelling the original note. In this way we have echoes of an absent original. The echoes are than randomized so that the composition explodes within a stochastic process.

In face of a text which has lost any kind of possibile “meaning” (no analysis is possibile anymore)
still our memory works, projecting its figures.
Still we can recognize some gesture, some cadenza, the ones of our history, like in a language
which has lost any comunicability but still sounds somehow familiar to us, reminding us of things we have loved.
So, after the explosion of the meaning created by the stochastic process, returns a kind of
personal, private, archaeological work, cleaning up, bringing to evidence, (without touching the
exploded pitches) some fragment of meaning. As in a private language that tries to be shared.
Searching a possible sintax of a broken language.

The recording was done at the computer with a sampled piano.
