"Rituals for the Ryoanji Garden". Questa composizione, scritta su proposta del coreografo e danzatore Alessandro Certini, che ne ha realizzato la prima esecuzione, si ispira ad alcuni aspetti, teatrali, ritualistici e musicali, della cultura artistica giapponese: per esempio il Teatro Nò, la danza Bugaku, l'altra danza femminile, per festeggiare la fioritura dell'albero di ciliegio: "Miyako Odori", i templi buddisti con annessi giardini, la musica Gagaku.
Il titolo del brano evoca il famoso giardino del tempio Zen Ryoanji di Kyoto (già celebrato da Cage, al quale il mio pezzo è dedicato), eleggendolo come luogo immaginario di misteriosi rituali e azioni performative, musicali e coreografiche allo stesso tempo.
Verso la fine del pezzo appare la citazione, in una veste personalizzata soprattutto per quanto riguarda l'aspetto armonico, di una canzone popolare giapponese dedicata ai fiori di ciliegio.
