Our label continues its exploration of the repertoire of FontanaMIXensemble, twenty years of concerts and recordings that represent the activity of one of the most important ensembles in the European contemporary music scene.

From 1988 to 1994, Mauricio Kagel composed an eight-part series entitled ‘Die Stücke der Windrose.’ In their live recording, the FontanaMIXensemble selected five parts of Kagel’s composition: Osten, Nordosten, Norden, Nordwesten, and Westen.
The Salonorchester staff - clarinet, piano, four-hand harmonium, two violins, viola, cello and double bass - differs from one composition to another only in the choice of different types of percussion which, little by little, evoke the geography represented by the title of the piece. According to Kagel, the geography of sound changes in relation to the point of view in which the spectator places himself.

'Kagel, Windrose' is a 2008 concert performed only in Italy.
